The threshold for reporting just means that the agency that received your payments doesn't have to send you a 1098-E if you paid less than $600.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Our instructions say, "If you don't have your 1098-E, we recommend you contact your student loan lender, &lt;B&gt;or you can grab your interest amount from your year-end statement and enter that amount to get a deduction."&lt;/B&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
