In 2016, I took almost 29 units and every unit cost $46 dollars. I have pay anything out of my pocket because i was eligible for tuition fee waiver. Now I'm filing tax and it is asking how much was my enrollment fee and tuition fee during 2016. Should I put $0 or the full amount of all 29 units?

No, you don't have to file your education expenses if you...

No, you don't have to file your education expenses if you are not going to get a credit.

The IRS is quite clear on that: Just because you got a 1098-T, you don't need to include it on your tax return if you have no expenses for tuition, fees and books that you paid (or were paid by someone else as a gift).

However, if you received scholarship money that was used for living expenses, the portion that was not used to pay for your education is taxable and needs to be reported.
