      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;B&gt;Yes&lt;/B&gt;, but you can only &lt;B&gt;deduct a portion &lt;/B&gt;of it. You have to &lt;I&gt;divide the origination fee you paid by&amp;nbsp;the number of years you have to pay off the loan&lt;/I&gt; to calculate the amount you can deduct each year as part of student loan interest.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can also treat capitalized interest the same way as loan origination fees.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For more information, please read the following TurboTax article.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;
