topic How to enter the 1042-S form information? in Business & farm

I am an international student, but have stayed in U.S for more than 5 years, and I am now considered a resident alien for tax purposes. However, in addition to the W-2 form, I also have a 1042-S form, which was a gambling winning form (income code 28) I received last year. Since I used the passport as my ID at that time, they said that they would give me a 1042-S form for the tax withholding. How should I enter the information in the turbotax? Someone pointed out that I can file this form separately, but someone said that I can just fill in the form as if it were a 1099 or W2G form. Now the question I want to ask is that could I enter the information in the turbotax without filing a paper form separately since it will be a very convenient way. If so, how can I do this?

Yes, you can report this gambling income in TurboTax as t...

Yes, you can report this gambling income in TurboTax as though you received a W2G.

Additionally, you should still be able to efile your return with this income information (you will not have to file your 1042-S with your return).

To
enter your gambling winnings and losses in
TurboTax Online or Desktop, please follow these steps:

Once
you are in your tax return, click on the “Federal Taxes” tab ("Personal"
tab in TurboTax Home & Business)

Next click on “Wages and
     Income”
("Personal Income" in TurboTax Home & Business)

Next click on "jump to
full list" or “I’ll choose what I work on”

Scroll down the screen until
to come to the section “Less Common Income”

Choose "show more",
then Gambling Winnings and follow the onscreen instructions

Include the gross winnings under box 1 and the federal withholdings under box 4.

I received a 1042-S from a pension fund. I now live in Canada but worked in US to earn this retirement fund. I filled out as a DIV as stated in Turbotax but t didn't show taxes taken out. This impacted my return f them. I then filled it out as I received a 1099 and it allowed the reduction for taxes paid.

The IRS rejected my 1040 e-filing because it says they received a 1099 from the retirement payer with a different EIN number.

How do I fill out Turbotax for 1042-S showing the tax I paid?
