Hi, what is the deadline of filing the final 1120 after I closed my C Corp business at 6/14/2022 by sending a form 966 to IRS.

When To File

Generally, a corporation must file its income tax return by the 15th day of the 4th month after the end of its tax year. A new corporation filing a short-period return must generally file by the 15th day of the 4th month after the short period ends. A corporation that has dissolved must generally file by the 15th day of the 4th month after the date it dissolved.

However, a corporation with a fiscal tax year ending June 30 must file by the 15th day of the 3rd month after the end of its tax year. A corporation with a short tax year ending anytime in June will be treated as if the short year ended on June 30, and must file by the 15th day of the 3rd month after the end of its tax year.

If the due date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the corporation can file on the next business day.

October 17, 2022 if you dissolved your corporation on 6/14/2022.

@Anonymous_ thanks for your reply and I can use old 1120 form (the 2021 version) that hasn't been updated and released on the IRS website for 2022 version?

Yes, you can use the 2021 version since the 2022 version has not yet been released.

FYI ... you can and should use the 2021 program for the partial tax year if you cannot wait for the 2022 program to come out HOWEVER if you already used the 2021 program to file the 2021 return you MUST start a new return and enter everything from scratch ... you will not be able to transfer the prior tax return info into this final return AND you will have to mail in the return.
