      <description>&lt;P&gt;You cannot directly expense this investment.&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;The upfront cost to join the business must treated as an intangible asset which is amortized over 15 years.&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;Please read this&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small-businesses-self-employed/intangibles" target="_blank"&gt;IRS document&lt;/A&gt;&amp;nbsp;for more information.&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt; 
&lt;P&gt;In TurboTax, you should enter this as an asset and categorize it as Intangible assets.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
