The Home and Business version will not allow me to enter 1099-NEC income to two separate businesses we report on. The system overrides the first 1099-NEC entered to business A when entering to business B. I am able to enter a 1099-MISC to business B and the net income is correct. However, I do not have a 1099-MISC.

FYI ... on a Sch C the IRS only sees the total income. You NEVER have to enter the 1099 income in the 1099 sections ... you can simply enter it in the Other SE income section, after all you should be reporting all your income per your records even if you don't ever get a 1099 form. The IRS gets the 1099 info from the issuer and entering it in the TT program is for your use only ... so if you like you don't have to wait for a fix.

If you received only one 1099-NEC, then you should not be experiencing entry issues.

The issue only affects users with multiple 1099-NECs.

I just installed and updated my Turbotax on 31 January, and it's not fixed as of yesterday. Any idea when? Seems like a simple fix inasmuch as it could, in all prior editions, handle multiple payer 1099-MISC busineses.

Entering in all the 1099 forms for a Sch C is for your use only ... all the IRS needs is the total annual income from all sources on the Sch C ... so you can delete all those forms and make one simple entry in the OTHER income section which is perfectly legal and is a whole lot less time and effort ...

Feb 6th

I have entered 3 1099-NEC forms- one for me, and two for my spouse. They all default into my name and social security number and won't let me change it. I don't want to file it this way!

To enter in your spouse's 1099-NEC, try entering them as Other Income. In the description, identify the income directly to your spouse if needed. If your spouse is filing a Schedule C separately from yours, it will automatically identify as belonging to your spouse.

To change your spouse's 1099-NEC's to be for your spouse, follow these steps:

First, use the search for 1099-NEC and click the Jump to link.

When you see the two Forms 1099-NEC for your spouse, click the Trash can Icon to delete them, one at a time.

Next, re-enter the income by searching for schedule c and clicking the Jump to link

Add income for this work as Other self-employed income and Continue

Describe the Type of Income as Form 1099-NEC, including the EIN and business name.

This is where to identify the income as your spouse's if necessary.

Enter the Amount and click Continue

If there are no other adjustments, scroll down and select Done

Follow through the rest of the interview and select Done with Income.

Form 1099-NEC is a new form for non-employee compensation that replaces what used to be reported on Form 1099-MISC, Box 7 in the past.

I deleted the 1099-NEC forms and went to schedule C. That part worked as you said. But there is nowhere on the screen that says-

Add income for this work as Other self-employed income and Continue

All I could do was choose Edit next to my husbands listed business income and then it let me add them at that point. Although another glitch I keep seeing- it keeps assuming the 1099-NEC is farming income and asks if we have any farm expenses to deduct. I hope this all gets fixed soon. I've used Turbo Tax for 20 years for our business and have always felt confident. This year- too many issues. I feel like no matter what I do, something is wrong with my return and an audit is on the horizon. Thanks for trying to help.

The 1099-NEC bug is still there. The program accepts a topic for "relates to" but later erases it so the entries do not post. Amazing that over a year later this is still not working properly! Too busy fighting the government lawsuit for deceptive marketing to fix a basic function in the software?
