For many years, I was a part-time freelance contractor for a company and set up a home office to do that work. Last year, I was hired as a part-time employee by that company, but nothing has changed. I still work from home in my home office, but I now have a W-2 and not a 1099 from them. Can I still deduct the expenses for my home office?

Since you are now an employee you cannot deduct any type of employee business expenses, including home office expenses, due to the tax code changes for tax years 2018 thru 2025.

If you had employee business expenses in tax year 2017 or earlier then those expenses are deductible on the 2017 or earlier tax returns.
