I am ready to file form 1041, but still need to troubleshoot 1 item -

The box for 643 (e) (3) election is not checked on page 2. IRS instructions indicated including Schedule D form with return and attaching a statement indicating the Estate would like to make this election.

I'm a bit confused. Could someone clarify?

Do you want to make this election for the estate?

That means the estate would recognize any gain on the sale of estate property and then distribute it, in-kind, to the beneficiaries at FMV.
