Although you might be able to view or print your information from the website, most banks, brokerages and other financial institutions do not have the data formatted for import into tax software before sometime in February. So if you are wanting to enter it sooner, you have to key it in by hand. Or….wait until it is available for import.

If you want to enter it manually, click the option that says “I’ll type it in myself”

If your bank or financial institution is not on the drop down list, click the words “I’ll type it in myself” and key in your information by hand.

See if your financial institution is on the Partner List - If not, you will have to enter the information manually.

How do you know when your institution's data is ready for import?

When I try to import, I get no error messages it just makes a blip noise after showing "establishing secure connection" for a few seconds.

I am having the exact same problem.

I think E*Trade still needs to make the file available but if TurboTax could confirm this instead of just making a blip noise that would so helpful.

I can import my 1099 from T. Rowe Price Mutual Funds but there is no option for importing from TRP Brokerage accounts. TRP Brokerage is listed as a partner. I can link to my TRP Mutual Fund account from TT so that is not the problem. Any suggestions?

Although TRP may be listed as a partner, if they are not listed in the import-ready list in the program they may not have import-ready documents. Although they may be added later, consider using the Summary Method for your 1099-B's and combining interest from the same institution into one entry. The IRS has copies of all your 1099's already anyway; they're looking at totals in your return to compare.

In TurboTax Online, you may find the 'import-ready list in the program' by following these steps:

Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
Down the left side of the screen, click Wages & Income.
Click the down arrow to the right of Investments and Savings.
Click to the right of Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B).
Click Add investments.
On the Save time and connect your financial accounts screen, select Connect.
The 'import-ready list in the program' is the list that you see at the screen Let's find your account.

You may enter the summary information instead of each individual transaction as suggested by @MarilynG1. Follow these steps:

Create a .PDF of the IRS form 1099-B to upload into TurboTax Online.
At the screen Let's find your account, select Enter a different way.
At the screen How do you want to add your docs, select Type it in myself, then Continue.
At the screen OK, let's start with one investment type, select Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds. Click Continue.
At the screen Which bank or brokerage is on your 1099-B, enter the information. Click Continue.
Answer the questions at the screen Tell us about the sales on your 1099-B.
Do these sales include any employee stock, enter No.
Do you have more than three sales, enter Yes.
Do these sales include any other types of investments, enter No.
Did you buy every investment listed, enter Yes. Continue.
On the screen Now, choose how to enter your sales, select Sales section totals. Select Continue.
At the screen Look for your sales on your 1099-B, select Continue.
You will now be able to enter the total proceeds (sales) and cost basis, along with the sales category. Refer to your IRS form 1099-B, IRS form 8949 and / or Schedule D Capital Gains and Losses for the amounts and category. When finished, select Continue.
You can add additional sales totals by selecting the Add another sales total on the Review your sales section totals screen.
When completed, close the record and click Continue.
At the screen Now, we'll help you upload your 1099-B since the IRS requires a copy, browse and select your document. Select Continue.
When you upload your document, your filing instructions will not show that anything needs to be mailed in, and no IRS form 8453 will be generated.

I'm having the same problem with Deluxe desktop. There are 2 separate tax files at TRP, and TurboTax is downloading only one of them, and not downloading the brokerage account. Have not had this problem in prior years.

Marilyn, I've imported from T Rowe Price for years, with no problem. This year, even though the tax forms for my brokerage account show in the same location as the mutual fund side of the house, TurboTax is not downloading them - again, as it has in the past, for years.

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.

To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings:

Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL.
Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu.
Toggle the switch to ON.
Refresh the page and attempt your import again.

If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play:

Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements.
Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back.
Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser.

That didn't help. I cannot import either. Could other years no problem from troweprice. Keep getting this error even though I know they have all the information out.

Unexpected connection errors in TurboTax are often resolved by clearing browser cache/cookies, using an incognito window, or switching browsers. Other common fixes include disabling VPNs, turning off firewall/anti-virus, or checking internet connectivity. If on desktop, run all available updates.

I contacted TRowe Price and they said it is a problem with Turbotax that they are working to resolve!!!!

I received the same info from T Rowe Price and was told the problem may not be fixed by 4/15. They suggested I key the info in, which o had already done. Easy enough.

Beyond words!!! Any company with any professionalism and sense with a product like this would be certain BEFORE tax season that their software worked. The fact that I can import this information is a major reason I use this software.

Intuit owes us all refunds!!!!

Most users are able to successfully import their tax documents. Issues related to your specific computer configuration can't be individually addressed except by a Customer Service tech who can get into your computer. All we can do in this forum is post what has resolved the problem for other users and general tips.

Remember that the IRS already has copies of all your 1099's. All they require are Summary Totals in your tax return.

I messaged T Rowe Price and asked specifically about the brokerage download being available and they replied back that the package has errors and their tech team is working on it but could not provide any ETA date. Their mutual fund download is available as you stated.

It's all very fine indeed that TT and brokers have arranged to lock one out from being able to access trades etc prior to end of February. Anyone notice tax filing date hasn't changed because of complex reporting requirements?
Used to be a simple csv could be obtained and imported. Even a PDF should be able to be imported.
