Under major deductions...the system is telling me I can not deduct the 8.25% state tax on the laminate flooring and the counter top/tiles..total of $431 in taxes..why

Did you try this:

1. Go to Deductions & Credits.

2. Select I'll choose what I work on.

3. Choose Estimates and Other Taxes Paid.

4. Select Sales Tax.

As you go through the Sales Tax section, you'll come to a page that says Major Purchases.

Answer Yes, and select Building Materials from the drop-down list.
