    <description>&lt;P&gt;You may be able to claim a portion of the expenses. Per&amp;nbsp;&lt;A href="https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p526.pdf" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"&gt;IRS Pub 526, Charitable Contributions&lt;/A&gt;, you may deduct up to $50 per month for each full calendar month the student lives with you as a charitable contribution if you itemize deductions (&lt;A href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1901553-what-is-schedule-a" target="_blank"&gt;Schedule A&lt;/A&gt;). To qualify for a deduction, the student must:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;live in your home under a written agreement between you and a qualified organization,&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;not be your relative or dependent, and&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;be a full-time student in grade 12 or lower at a school in the United States.&lt;/LI&gt;
