My daughter was a full time student graduating in May 2016. Age 22. She established residency in another state on 6/13/2016. Since this is less than half a year, can I still claim her on my taxes?

There are two types of dependent: Qualifying Child and Qualifying Relative.

You can't claim her as a Qualifying Child because she lived with you less than half the year and was not away at school during that time.

You could claim her as a Qualifying Relative IF you provided more than half of her support in 2016 AND she had gross 2016 income of less than $4050.

If she fails either of the Qualifying Relative criteria, you can't claim her as a dependent.
