I'm also trying to find where in TurboTax Deluxe to deduct conference registration for 2017 conferences that I paid in 2017.

To enter your conference registration fees and associated travel expenses for a qualified charity:

Click on Federal Taxes
Deductions and Credits
"I'll choose what I work on"
Scroll down to Charitable Donations
Click Start next to Donations to Charity in 2017
Click Yes to "Do you want to enter your donations for 2017"?
Click Add next to Mileage and travel expenses
Enter your out of pocket unreimbursed registration fees and travel expenses along with the description.

Is this where I also deduct education/conference expenses (registration, books, a/v)? What if there are no miles because I didn't drive myself?
