I put in a total of $26501 for 4 different properties I own. Schedule A shows $37835. I can not figure out why your software is increasing the deduction.

Mortgage interest can be entered two place in TurboTax....

Mortgage interest can be entered two place in TurboTax. Once in the Interest Mortgage area and also under Real Estate taxes.

I would go back and EDIT the Mortgage interest area and remove the Real Estate taxes from there, and then go to Real estate taxes and make all are entered.

To do this:

Go to mortgage interest section first.

Click on Federal Taxes

Click on Deductions and
     Credits

Click on I'll choose what I
     work on (if shown)

Under Your Home

On Mortgage Interest, click on
     the start or update button

Go through each lender and remove property taxes

Then go to Property taxes (which is next section) and make all are entered once. You may have to total the 4 properties and make one entry.
