      <description>&lt;P&gt;You cannot deduct property taxes you paid on your in-laws' home because the taxes are not imposed in your name, even if you paid them.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;For the home you bought, you can claim property taxes you paid in 2016 and also mortgage interest if you have a mortgage.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
