I have had medical licenses (ARNP, RN) in Washington state for many years. I moved to Florida in 2017. Florida requires practitioners to have Florida licenses. I applied for and received Florida ARNP and RN licenses in 2017.

My position in Florida does not begin until mid January 2018.

I did not have to pass any board exams to get the Florida licenses because I have the Washington licenses.

Can I deduct licenses from both states as job related expenses when I itemize deductions for 2017?

Yes, you can deduct both expenses for licenses in 2017, you don't need to have started the particular job requiring the licensing in 2017.
