      <description>&lt;P&gt;If your parents are claiming you as a dependent, you cannot take your $4,050&amp;nbsp;&lt;B&gt;personal exemption&lt;/B&gt;. But you are still entitled to the benefit of either the standard deduction or itemized deductions.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If TurboTax is recommending the standard deduction, it is because you do not have enough potential itemized deductions (medical expenses in excess of 10% of AGI, mortgage interest, state income tax, real estate tax, etc.) to make the itemized deductions more valuable to you than the standard deduction.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
