There are errors in TurboTax HSA screens. Does anyone care?

The screens come up with "ME" instead of my name, are asking about a non-existent spouse, and are asking me about 2024 and Last-Month rule that absolutely do not apply.

If you are using the desktop version installed on your own computer, have you installed the latest updates?

Yes. From Victoria's message, it appears there is a known issue with the Last-Month rule which may be part of the issue. I just hope the fix takes care of the 3 errors that I have. Thank you.

It looks like the latest update took care of the last month rule, but there are still errors in the HSA module. Specifically, it is not pulling my name AND it has given me a spouse. The selections I make for 2024 HSA participation and those of my imaginary spouse will not save. Any idea when these items will be addressed or how I report this? Thank you.

In the My Info or Personal Info section, please confirm that you have entered your name and not "ME".

Next, are you using the Desktop TurboTax product or the Online product? If you are using the Desktop product, please look at Forms, and go find the Info Wks, check to see what your name is and if you have a spouse in this worksheet.

If you are using the Online product, please go look at your tax return (on the left, click on Tax Tools, then click on Tools (you may need to click on the carot to see it), then in the center, click on View Tax Summary, then back on the left, click on Preview My 1040). What is your name on your 1040?

Last, if none of the previous has helped. let's delete all HSA data from your return in case there is some leftover debris in your tax file.

HSA RESET

1. make a copy of your W-2(s) (if you don't have the paper copies)

2. delete your W-2(s) (use the garbage can icon next to the W-2(s) on the Income screen)

*** Desktop/Windows***

3. Go to the upper right and click on Forms, and

4. Select the desired form (1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)). Note the Delete Form button at the bottom of the form’s screen.

*** Desktop/Mac***

3. Switch to Forms Mode by selecting the Forms icon.

4. From the menu, select the form (1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)) you want to remove (if you don't see it, select Open Form at the top). From the Forms menu, select Remove [form name].

*** Online ***

3. go to Tax Tools (on the left), and navigate to Tools->Delete a form

4. delete form(s) 1099-SA (if one), 8889-T, and 8889-S (if one)

5. go back and re-add your W-2(s), preferably adding them manually

6. go back and redo the entire HSA interview....

Bill - can't thank you enough. Your instructions fixed the issued -- thank you for being so detailed; your instructions were so easy to follow. There is still one entry box that is 'dangling' on one of the HSA interview screens, but I was able to by-pass it. Everything is now as expected. Thank you again!
