topic Drug Trials? in Deductions & credits

Hello

I received a 1099 NEC from my drug trials, which involved just a monthly IV. $825 received.

Been reporting the last two yrs on schedule 1 other income. No issues with that.

Now I have 1099 NEC spot in Turbotax, but wants to treat me as self employed. which strictly I may be, but this doesn't seem to fit. Still tempted to report on schedule 1 and send a copy of 1099 NEC.

Any thoughts?

They clearly believe that you are an independent contractor and self-employed.

However, if you participate on occasion and this is NOT something you do on a regular and continual basis, then the compensation is not subject to self-employment tax. Otherwise, it IS subject to self-employment tax.

Thanks for replying

I have a Parkinsonism and this is the second set of drug trials, both consisted of monthly IV's. So it may on paper look like i'm self contracting, but not strictly so.
