Turbo Tax told me I had to mail my Federal Return. I did.

Turbo Tax said I should not mail my State Return as it would be e-filed.

It appears they did not file it.

I am eligible for the elderly tax credit and in previous years, using Turbo Tax, I received a refund from Indiana within a week or two of filing.

Still waiting on July 2.

No mis understanding on my part. The website stated the Federal return must be mailed and the State would be efiled. On the downloaded copy of the completed return, the cover sheet for the State Return states "DO NOT MAIL". And, the method of delivery never changed. I even tried to select mail for the delivery method for the State Return, and they, turbo tax, would not let me make the change. So they changed the method for the Federal Return to mail and would not change the method for the State Return from e-file to mail.

Sorry, because of all the security and fraud, you can not efile state unless Federal was first efiled and accepted. So if you mailed federal you also have to mail state.

see, https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/e-file/help/can-i-e-file-my-state-return-before-my-federal/00/25545

Where did it say federal must be mailed and state efiled? Can you post a link? Is it for New York? Yes NY says you have to efile but that's only if you efiled Federal. If you can't efile Federal for some reason you don't have to efile state.

Or maybe it was talking about paying a tax due or how you will get a refund?

turbo tax made no mention of such. And left "efile" as the active method for the State.
