In 2023 I paid around $7000 in state and local taxes. My 2024 took $2193 off of my standard deduction for state and local taxes greater than $10,000. I only had about $7000. How do I fix this?

some missing facts here...

did you itemize in 2023?

did you receive a state tax refund in 2024 from your 2023 tax return? how much was that?

the standard deduction wouldn't adjust for state and local taxes. What line numbers are you looking at and what is on each line?

I took the standard deduction in 2023. My state refund was under $600.

I'm looking at the summary in the 2024 TurboTax program. Under deductions it lists Standard deduction, vehicle registration fee and State and Local taxes greater than $10,000. The info for the first 2 entries are correct, but the third entry for 2024 is -$2193.
