CA Income Tax Return - How to claim credit on foreign taxes paid on dividend income

While claiming a credit on foreign taxes paid on passive income (dividend) reported on a 1099-DIV is straightforward on my federal return, I'm not able to find if there is a credit under California income tax rules. Does anyone know? I did not find it listed as a special credit on 540 instructions. Thank you.

California does not give a credit for foreign taxes paid.
