To prepare a 1041 return, you need to buy Turbo Tax Business Desktop program, not to be confused with the personal Home & Business version. Home & Business is just for personal returns that need schedule C for self employment. TT Business is not available to do online or on a Mac. You can buy the Windows Desktop program here. I don't know if you can get Assisted for 1041 returns.

No. The assist mentions only businesses in all of the information. You can use TurboTax Business online or you can download it, TurboTax Download for Business.

The IRS has a quick How Do I File a Deceased Person interactive assistant. It is very detailed and may give you additional information.
