How much did you pay someone to take care of your child so that you could work? The child and dependent care credit is a credit for parents who paid someone to babysit or provide daycare while they worked.

What do I put in the provider amount paid box if I paid out of pocket around 1,200 and childcare assistance paid the rest of it? Would I just put my out of pocket money I paid to them or joined together with childcare assistance?

You only enter the amount paid by YOU---not the amount of assistance you received. If your own out of pocket amount was $1200 that is what you use.
