This is calculating incorrectly it seems. Wife and I both over 55 and so both can add $1000 to family plan max of $8300. I entered $9300 as our contribution and it's saying I'm $1400 over my max? I could actually do another $1000 and make the total $10300 and not be over. Please advise.

The preliminary releases of tax software for the new year are just rough drafts or beta tests. A lot of things are missing, or are not yet updated for the new year. The HSA contribution limits in TurboTax have not yet been updated for 2024. There will be many updates to the software over the next couple of months. You can't file your tax return until sometime in January anyway. The IRS has not yet announced a date when filing for 2024 will begin.

Regarding the additional $1,000 contribution, that would have to be to your spouse's HSA, not to yours. If you have a W-2 that shows and amount in box 12 with code W, make sure that you have not also reported that amount as a personal contribution.
