I have a home office and was interested in knowing if we added new laundry appliances in another area outside the space designated for home office would that qualify as an indirect expense? And if so would it be a depreciable asset or just an indirect expense.? I am assuming no but you never know. Thanks,

No. To claim a home office deduction, the space must only be used for business activities.

If you replace the entire roof of the house, that could be allocated to the home office on a square foot percentage basis. If you only replace the roof over the master bedroom, that has zero allocation for the home office, but if you replace the roof over the home office only, that has a 100% allocation to the home office.

I can’t think of any way to legitimately allocate a percentage of a washer and dryer to a home office.
