topic When will California Schedule CA (540) be corrected for line 20? in Deductions & credits

I was on a phone call with a TT "expert" and I do not believe what he told me regarding California state tax forms. He said that those forms are not fully approved yet. He admitted there is a problem with line 20, column B on this Schedule, but said it should be fixed in an update. I cannot believe that is correct. It is not computing the adjustment for our IRA contributions correctly:

My spouse and I are both over 70.5 years old MFJ (at end of 2022 spouse was 71 and I was 75), but only my spouse had 2022 wages (greater than $14,000). We are both taking a $7000 IRA contribution deduction on our federal taxes. And I noticed that TurboTax is not computing the California adjustment to this deduction correctly. Line 20 of Schedule CA shows this:

The adjustment in column B should be $14,000 (not $7000) since Calif tax law does not allow this deduction for people over 70.5. I can only conclude this is a bug in TurboTax. I played around with the amount of IRA contributions and determined that the $7000 adjustment showing above is for my spouse who has wages. The missing $7000 adjustment is associated with me (who has no wages). This suggests to me that there is a bug in the code. Obviously I can override this adjustment and correct it myself, but it would be nice to have TT compute it correctly.

I just checked and it has been reported and I have queried a status for it. The telephone representative may well be correct. States do have to prepare their forms and calculations each year before they formally release them for use by IRS certified software. I do not have any inside information on California's status.

Thank you for that information. I was beginning to wonder if I was the only person who saw this error.

I assume that this form will be corrected with a TT update in the near future. If you find out an estimated date for the update, please let me know.

Thank you again,

Gary

Haven't heard any updates yet. I did just try with my desktop TurboTax and the issue is still present and maybe a bit worse as it showed $7K in the subtraction column B and $14K in the California amount in column D.

Thanks, that isn't good. When I opened desktop TT this weekend, I got a bunch of updates for California, so I thought it might be fixed. But it wasn't. I re-entered data and am still getting the same numbers in columns A and B that I got before (but nothing in column C - I assume you meant C not D). See below. The correct numbers for columns A, B and C should be: 14,000; 14,000; zero. Hope this is fixed soon since I plan to file in mid-March.
