topic Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit for New Construction Home in Deductions & credits

Hi friends, I am facing a unique situation:

In 2022, I purchased a new home (new construction), in which the builder installed a level-2 electric vehicle charging station. They included the price for this charging station (material + labor costs) in my home purchase agreement, but installed it after my home closed. May I know if the price for this charging station is eligible for claiming the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit?

Furthermore, later in 2022, I decided to upgrade the original charging station the builder installed; I retained the wiring, and simple swapped out the builder-provided charging station with a Tesla charging station, and paid an electrician to do the swapping (pretty cheap). Given this information, can I claim the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit against the totally price of: builder's charging station, labor cost to do the wiring by the builder, cost of the new charging station, labor cost to swap the charging stations? Or can I only claim the credit against the newly installed charging station price + the station-swapping labor, not the builder-provided charging station (new station is significantly cheaper because the builder-provided charging station price includes wiring costs)? Or can I only claims the credit against the builder installed charging station price + wiring & installation labor?

Thank you very much for your help!

Assuming you meet the below criteria you would Include everything that was purchased and installed in 2022 to get the charging station that you use.

You started using the station in the current tax year (2022).

You are the original owner of the station.

The station is used primarily in the United States.

The station is installed at a residential or business location.

The cost of the charging or fueling station includes:
- The amount you paid to purchase the station
- The fees you paid to have the station installed in your home or business location (i.e., electrician fees).
- Permit fees
- Any city, local, or state fees that you were required to pay in order to be able to install your station.

Example: You purchased your charging station for $850, paid an electrician $2,000 for installation and hardware. You would enter total cost as $2,850 for your station.
