where to get credit for direct IRS payment for 2022 taxes. Please don't say isn the estimated tax area as that fall under the taxes paid in 2022 deduction area and usually the standard deductions are what is filed and I never get credit of the direct IRS payment to federal taxes. Is this a glitch in turbo tax?

One of the lines in the estimated taxes section is "Federal Estimated Taxes". That is where you enter them. They are not included as an itemized deduction when entered on this line.

You can see any estimated tax payments entered on line 26 of Form 1040 (2022 estimated tax payments and amount applied from 2021 return). It will directly lower your tax liability. As Texas Roger mentions it isn't included as an Itemized Deduction.

Please follow these steps to enter your estimated tax payments:

Click “Deductions &Credits” on the top

Click "I'll choose what to work on"

Scroll down to "Estimates and Other Taxes Paid"

Select "Estimates"
