Apparently the IRS records show that you did receive that credit. The letter from the IRS includes instructions for you to challenge their decision if you disagree.

On the IRS website it shows what payments I have recieved. Under the Child one it says $0. But all my economic stimulus checks that I recieved are on there, along with everything else I recieved.

What was on line 28 of your 2021 Form 1040? Did you receive any of the advance payments of $250 or $300 per month for your child between July and December in 2021? Do not rely on your memory. Check your bank account to see if there were deposits made. When you prepared your 2021 tax return you had to enter the amounts of the advance CTC payments sent to you and/or to your spouse. The IRS sent letter 6419 to you showing how much they issued. You were only entitled to get the remaining half of the CTC as a credit on line 28 of your Form 1040. Lots of people made mistakes and either did not enter the advance payments at all or only entered the amount attributed to one of the parents. If you filed a joint return they sent a letter to each of you and both amounts had to be entered.

The total amount you could have received--including advance payments---- was $3600 for a child under the age of 6 or $3000 for a child six to 17 years old. If the child turned 18 before the year of 2021 ended then you could not get the CTC for the child.

If the IRS made a mistake then you can dispute the amount they say they sent to you by following the instructions in their letter.

No I did not recieve any of the child payments and I did not recieve the 6419 letter. His father is dead so I'm the only one with custody and able to claim him. My child is 2 so I should have recieved the whole 3600.

@random_freak09 Then look at your return to see if you claimed your child as a dependent correctly. Is he listed up near the top as a dependent? Did you enter the child's Social Security number in My Info? Did you make sure to say that the SSN did not say not valid for employment? When it asked if anyone else supported the child or if there is an "agreement" about the child's support, did you say NO?

Make sure you have entered your child as a dependent in My Info, and that you have entered the child's Social Security number. Careful— do not say that your child’s SSN is not valid for employment. If your child was born in 2021make sure you said he lived with you the whole year. There is an oddly worded question that asks if the child paid over half their own support. Say NO to that question.
