If I am self-employed (independent contractor, 1099, with an LLC) can I deduct any healthcare related costs from my income? For instance, if I have a catastrophic healthcare plan from my state's Healthcare Exchange, can that cost be deducted? Or is it only full-coverage policies?

If I am self-employed (independent contractor, 1099, with an LLC) can I deduct any healthcare related costs from my income? For instance, if I have a catastrophic healthcare plan from my state's Healthcare Exchange, can that cost be deducted? Or is it only full-coverage policies? yes health insurance premiums can be deducted but not on schedule C. there's a special place to enter them. the amount you can deduct is limited to the net schedule C income. actual medical expenses - doctors, hospitals, RX are deductible but only as a medical expense on schedule A. only the amount in excess of 7.5% of AGI is deductible and you need to be able to itemize
