Dependents cannot receive earned income credit. If you were claimed as a dependent then you are not eligible for EIC. As for whether your parents could get EIC for claiming you---that depends on THEIR earned income.

If you were not claimed as a dependent for 2021, then it is possible that you are eligible for EIC on a 2021 return since the criteria is different in some ways for 2021. The age limitations are different. But dependents still cannot get EIC for 2021.

I received a CP27 notice from the IRS about my EIC for my 2021 return. I was a dependent on my parent's return for 2020 but they did not receive an EIC. Do I still qualify for the EIC? According to the notice I qualify under the other parts but I am just not sure about the dependent part. Thank you
