It appears that Turbo Tax thinks a standard deduction is higher then an itemized deduction. That would be a first in about 20 years. How can I see the comparison Turbo Tax made to make this decision? Is there a worksheet that has this information?

To see the breakdown of your itemized deductions:

Login to your account.

Select Federal from the left menu.

Go to Deductions and Credits.

Scroll all the way down and select Wrap up Tax Breaks . On the following screen you can see both deductions.

Click the drop down arrow next to Show me the breakdown of my itemized deductions.

More taxpayers than ever are taking the standard deduction. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that was signed into law in late 2017 substantially increased the standard deduction for tax years 2018 through 2025.

In TurboTax Desktop, click on FORMS in the upper right corner, then choose 'Open Form' in the top left corner.

Type in 'Schedule A' and you can open the form to review your Itemized Deductions.

Use the Magnifying Glass on amount fields to drill down to the original entry.
