i have three 1098, due to refinancing. turbo tax is blowing up with this.

i put the outstanding mortgage balance at 1.0, to get it to accept, however it is limiting the amount of the interest deduction.

tried to call turbo tax for help, can't get through their computer.

Please clarify what the three forms 1098 represent. We understand an original loan and a refinance loan, but what is the third one for?

Original loan

broker held mortgage for one month

new loan

3 1098, each showing interest paid and mortgage balance. I had to manipulate the system to get it to show the total mortgage interest. I could not follow turbo tax. This wails be so much easier, if someone got on the phone and shared a scree.

We appreciate your experience. A token may be the best idea to get specific assistance for your situation. If you like, you can send a copy of your return that will be scrubbed to eliminate your personal data by using these steps:

TurboTax Online: Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.

Then select Tools below Tax Tools.
A window will pop up which says Tools Center.
On this screen, select Share my file with Agent.
You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click okay through this screen and then you will get a Token number.
Reply to this thread with your Token number. This will allow us to open a copy of your return without seeing any personal information.

TurboTax CD/Download:

Click on Online in the top left menu of TurboTax CD/Download for Windows
Select 'Send Tax File to Agent'
Write down or send an image of your token number then place in this issue.
We can then review your exact scenario for a solution.

We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
