topic Divorce Settlement in Deductions & credits

I got divorced last year prior to the end of the year(2021). With my divorce there was a payment made to my ex-spouse I was I wondering if that is tax deduction or not? I understand that alimony and maintenance payments can not be tax ductions. In my paperwork the payment is not listed under alimony, nor does it say “maintenance”.

Thank you for helping with this question.

Check what it it is with the lawyers. It could be a division of property.

No, payments you made to your ex-spouse are not tax deductible. This the case regardless of how they were classified by the divorce agreement.
