about the only way a standard deduction would get rejected is you are married filing separate and you indicated the other spouse was itemizing. there could be other reasons. we can't see your return

Are you filing married filing separately? If you are filing MFS and your spouse itemized then you are also required to itemize, even if it is a disadvantage for you.

Otherwise, what is the rejection message you are getting?

No, do not try to take Itemized Deductions. Something else is amiss.

Please clarify this by letting us know exactly what the rejection statement said.

Single. 2 - W2s and basic office expenses. That's it. Rejection = The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing "ACA Explanation" must be present in the return.

I think I figured it out. TT wasn't saving my 1095-E info? Had to re-enter that form's info... ??

What office expenses? If you are a W-2 employee you cannot deduct job-related expenses on a federal return.

If you are getting an error or rejection for 8962 that is for having a 1095A for marketplace insurance that you were supposed to enter.
