For 2020 I did not claim my son as a dependent thus I qualified and received a third stimulus check for $1400, based on my 2020 return. Whereas his mother claimed him and received a check. For 2021 I am claiming my son and Turbo tax says I should have qualified for $2800, which is true, but due to the alternating claim of dependent the $1400 went to his mother. I have no interest in getting that money is it possible to remove the $1400 credit from my return?

Don't worry about it. If you put down you already got it to try to make it 0 the IRS will probably correct it and add it to your return.

If you are claiming them this year then you DO get it now. It is really based on 2021. The IRS just used 2020 returns to send the checks out fast. This is a common situation. It is a IRS loophole.
