topic 2021 separated parents - stimulus payment split in Deductions & credits

My husband and I filed married jointly for 2020 taxes. We were separated all of 2021. How do I split the Mar stimulus payment if our two kids lived with me 100%? I assume take the full amount that hit my bank account and deduct 1400 for husband? Can I keep the full amount applicable to kids if I'm the custodial parent 100%?

One more caveat. I'm filing head of household on my own for 2021.

You only claim what is on the letter the IRS sent you. He will claim what is on the letter the IRS sent him. Do not claim more or less. If you are unsure, see Third Economic Impact Payment for your correct amount.

Thank you! That was the conclusion of my research on the advance child credits. I don’t have the letter 6475. I thought it was addressed to both of us based on our 2020 married filing jointly status. Now, I’m trying to figure out how much of that money is for just me and the kids.

When was 6475 mailed? Maybe I didn’t get it yet? I read Jan 2022. That would explain my confusion.

the letters have all been mailed (supposedly) You can check the IRS "Your Online Account" for what they have on record as the amount you received.
