A solar provider mentioned that I would be able to claim the cost of a full home natural gas generator as part of the total amount that I paid when purchased with a solar energy system and that the total cost could be claimed as part of the solar energy credit on my taxes. Is this true?

That is not my question ... i know i can claim the cost of the solar panels that were installed on my roof. Is it correct that i can also claim the cost of the full house natural gas (not solar) generator that was also installed?

No, back up generators do not qualify for any residential energy credits.
