      <description>Michigan has subtractions, (Schedule 1) which is LIKE itemizing, but the property taxes for Michigan are reported on the Homestead Property Tax Credit Claim MI-1040C, which is filed with the return, but not really part of any itemized deductions. &lt;BR /&gt;So YES, you can take the Standard deduction on your federal return and the property taxes will act the same on the MIchigan return regardless. &lt;BR /&gt;</description>
