Can I update dependent care provider information?

error processing KY tax because it says I have to have a SSN EIN for dependent care provider even though I did not enter any dependent information and have no dependents.

Revisit the Child and Dependent Care Credit section to make sure you didn't enter any information by mistake.

Login to your account.
Select Federal from the left menu.
Go to Deductions and Credits.
Scroll down to You and Your Family and select Start/Update next to Child and Dependent Care Credit.

You can also search and delete form 2441 if it is included with your return. Form 2441 is used to report child and dependent care expenses paid for the year.

To delete the form:

Sign into your account .
Select Tax Tools on the bottom left and then Tools.
Select Delete a Form.
Find the form and select delete next to it.

I am also having this issue in KY and I have updated with all 0s and tried then followed up by deleting the form and still having the error.

Ditto for me. None of the recommended fixes changed anything. This error showed up after I did the latest update for Kentucky so there is clearly an error in this update's software. Also, after I complete my KY return and do an error check the program changes my Federal charitable deduction (when taking the std deduction) from $600 (MFJ) to $300 (single), reduces my refund accordingly and then flags it as an error that I have to correct manually even though everything was correct BEFORE I did my KY state taxes. I've always raved about TurboTax but this year I'm pretty disappointed in the product.

It did the same thing to me in KY. I have no dependents, much less a care provider. Is this a program error?

This is something that TurboTax is addressing. Take a look at the following TurboTax article and click the button inside the article to enter your email address so that you can be notified when an update has been released.
