I received the 3rd stimulus payment in 2021 for me, my wife, and my child totaling 4,200. We had a child in April of 2021, so I should be eligible for another $1,400 payment, but TurboTax says I've received everything I should (AGI is below $160k, so I should be getting this credit in some form). Any ideas why this is happening?

Please make sure that you selected that your baby lived with you all year in 2021. A child born during the tax year is deemed to have lived with you all year.

To verify your dependent's entry:

Login to your TurboTax Account

Click "My Info" from the left side of your screen

Click “Edit” next to your baby's name

To be eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit you need to be a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2021 and have a Social Security number that is valid for employment.

You cannot be claimed as a dependent by someone else to be eligible.

Your credit amount will be reduced if your 2021 adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than:

$150,000 if married and filing a joint return or filing as a qualifying widow or widower

$112,500 if filing as head of household or

$75,000 for eligible individuals filing as a single or as married filing separately.

Your payment will be reduced by 5% of the amount by which your AGI exceeds the applicable threshold above. (IRS FAQ Recovery Rebate Credit )

To claim the Recovery Rebate Credit in TurboTax, please follow these steps:

After entering all your information click "Search" at the top right and type "Stimulus".

Follow the jump to link (if you do not qualify for the Recovery Rebate Credit the stimulus questions will not come up).

On the screen "Let's double-check the amount you received" you will be asked about the amount of third stimulus payment you received. TurboTax will then calculate the amount of stimulus payment remaining that you are still entitled to get.

Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as The Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 of Form 1040.

It is a good idea to first clear your cache and cookies - which means removing all of the temporary programs that can gum up your web browser. If that doesn't work, try using a different web browser.

If that doesn't work I would recommend using the "Live Expert" help in the right upper corner to see if having someone walk you through helps.

Are you eligible for a third stimulus payment?

According to the IRS:

"Generally, someone was eligible for the full amount of the third Economic Impact Payment if they:

are a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien (and their spouse if filing a joint return), and

are not a dependent of another taxpayer, and

had adjusted gross income (AGI) that is not more than:

$150,000 if married and filing a joint return or if filing as a qualifying widow or widower

$112,500 if filing as head of household or

$75,000 for any other filing status

Payments were phased out – or reduced – above those AGI amounts. This means people did not receive a payment if their AGI was at least:

$160,000 if married and filing a joint return or if filing as a qualifying widow or widower

$120,000 if filing as head of household

$80,000 for any other filing status"

Since we can't see your return in this forum, and this is not a known issue with TurboTax, there may be some particular variables in your return causing your incorrect stimulus.

If you meet all the criteria noted above, and you have an additional dependent in 2021, you should qualify for the additional stimulus as a Recovery Rebate Credit.

The fact that you weren't ask about your Stimulus Payments in the Federal Review is inconsistent.

You could try clicking directly on Federal Review, rather than using the 'stimulus' jump link.

Soooo after I finished entering our income, it said we qualify for a stimulus of 8400.00 in March. 1200 per adult and 1000 per kid. Anyone else get something similar?

The 3rd stimulus payment received in the March - May 2021 timeframe was $1,400 for each person on the 2020 tax return. Did you receive this amount in 2021.

My son and daughter-in-law were married last year. My son received his recovery rebate but my daughter-in-law did not. When we were asked about receiving the rebates last year, we said no as I don't recall TT asking about them as individuals. 2800 was added as a credit, but shouldn't it be just 1400. I went into the form and changed it to 1400, is this OK?

Yes, you can enter in the amount they received by going to the Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet and entering the amount your son received on Line 13. This will properly calculate the credit which is shown on Form 1040 Line 30.

You should be able to find it in the step-by-step area as well. If you go into Other Tax Situations and select Done with Other, TurboTax will ask about the third stimulus payment if they are eligible to receive any credit on their 2021 tax return. You can answer Yes to Did you receive a third stimulus? and then No to Does this match the amount on Letter(s) 6475? You can then enter in the actual amount they received ($1,400).
