I filed an extension in March 2021 for my 2020 return and sent in a payment with it. I am now completing my 2020 tax return in turbo tax. where do i enter the payment i sent in?

When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due. Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return? Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes

If you filed the extension from within TurboTax, the amount of your payment should be automatically entered in your tax return. It should be on Schedule 3, line 9. If it's not there you have to enter it yourself.

To enter the payment you made with your extension, type "estimated tax payments" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to estimated tax payments." That takes you to the screen that says "Estimates and Other Income Taxes Paid." Scroll down a little to the second section, "Payments with Extension." Click the Start, Update, or Revisit button for payment with 2020 federal, state, or local extension, as appropriate.

Thank you for your response and the detailed steps. I did finally find the extension payment on my own. I am not computer illiterate but it was not the easiest thing to find. Now I know for next time. My other issue was finding help. I could not find a customer service help number or live chat. That is very frustrating. When you are in the middle of your tax return and have a question, waiting days for an answer is less than satisfactory. But, that said, thank you all very much and I most likely will continue to use TurboTax.
