topic medical in Deductions & credits

My wife (72 y/o) has limitations due to dementia and other health issues. She has problems walking and getting in the bath tub without a lot of help. I invested in a new Safe Step walk in tub and had it installed in the master bath room. It was quite expensive and I'd like to know if that qualifies as a medical deduction?

Yes. If a walk in tub is purchased for medical safety reasons, it can be considered a medical expense. Therefore, the materials and the installation costs are tax deductible as a Medical and Dental Expense.
