Hello,

I am working on my son's tax return for 2020. Since he was working on his Bachelor's degree so I was claiming him as my dependent. He graduated in Spring 2020 and got a full-time job and joined the company in August 2020. Now I cannot claim him as my dependent anymore because he is working as a full-time employee.

My question is, does he qualify for stimulus check which were issued in April and December of 2020? Turbo tax is saying he does qualify since he did not receive any stimulus check in 2020.

Also, is there a tax credit if you buy a electric car? I don't see that credit anymore?

Your son should be qualified for Rebate recovery credit, and he can claim the credit on his tax return if he paid more than half of his own support during 2020.

As for the electric vehicle credits, it still exists, however not all electric vehicles are qualified for the credit in 2020.

You can check out if you can receive the credit for your vehicle here:
