I paid my non-dependant son's tuition from a 529 for which I am the custodian. The 1098-T came in his name. Who gets to enter the 1098?

Do I still get to deduct the tuition, room and board and school supplies as well?

Thank you.

If the student is not your dependent, and he is the beneficiary on the account, you don't report the distribution. You also would NOT report any of the student's education expenses.

If he claims himself, he claims the distribution. He would also claim the education expenses and an education credit if eligible,
