When Does TurboTax apply deductions

I just started filling in the information for my federal taxes in TurboTax and the amount I owe is higher than I expected and was wondering if that is because TurboTax online does not enter deductions until you reach the deduction part of the return. I am going to be using the standard deduction and would like to know when that is applied to my return. Thanks for any advice.

Sorry to tell you but Turbo Tax starts out by giving you the Standard Deduction at the beginning until your Itemized Deductions are more. Are you sure you aren't seeing a refund? Turbo Tax even starts out by giving you the full Stimulus payment until you enter the amounts you actually got.
