I enclosed my lanai by replacing the existing screens with single pane temper glass wind breakers. In addition, installed a new door and solar light over the door. Does this qualify as an energy saving improvement?

Possibly.

You can claim a credit of 10% of the cost of energy efficient doors, windows and skylights, up to a lifetime maximum of $200. If you have claimed the credit before, your credit now may be limited by that lifetime maximum. The credit only applies to the cost of the door, window or skylight, and not installation. To qualify, the doors, windows and skylights must be certified to meet or exceed EnergyStar version 6.0 standards. You will need to check with the installer or manufacturer if you don't know the certification. (I suspect single-pane windows do not meet EnergyStar requirements, but that may depend on the region of the country. Single-pane is certainly not efficient enough in snow country.)

There's no credit for a solar light.

In Turbotax, the first part of the Energy Efficient Improvements interview only talks about solar, wind and geothermal. Click next to go to the next section which includes doors and windows.

The $200 limit applies only to windows.

The credit for new EnergyStar-certified doors is 10% of the cost, up to a maximum of $500. Installation costs are not included.
