You do need to enter the 1095-A.

On the screen immediately after entering it, check the box that the policy was shared with somebody that is not on your tax return. It will the then prompt you with some further questions about "allocating" the percentages (if you and your ex agree, it is usually best to allocated 100% to one tax return).

It depends on the reason provided for the rejection.

If your return was rejected because you claim your daughter as a dependent, and she is covered by your ex-spouse's Marketplace insurance, then a Form 1095-A should have been issued showing your daughter's coverage. This would not affect your Child Tax Credit, but you won't be able to file electronically without resolving the Marketplace insurance issue.

See this IRS webpage for more information regarding what to do if your return was rejected for missing Form 8962.

The person who enrolled a family member in Marketplace health insurance coverage for 2021 should have received Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement, from the Marketplace. The Form 1095-A shows the months of coverage and any Advance Premium Tax Credit paid to the Marketplace health insurance company for the coverage. If you did not receive a Form 1095-A, you should contact the Marketplace from which your daughter received coverage.

Because your daughter is your dependent, you should be provided with the form.

If you receive correspondence from the IRS, reply right away and explain the situation.

I've not heard of returns being held up for this reason, but the best way to check the status of your return/refund is at the IRS Where's My Refund? site.

If you entered the info from the 1095-A for your child on your return, this should be sufficient for the IRS to process your return. There has been some delay with returns claiming the Earned Income Credit, or Additional Child Tax Credit, if that applies to your return, but they are in the process of being released now.

Here's more info on Why is My Refund Delayed?

@nicolepalmer1120
